Does Jake Back Down?

His Record Says NO!
Jake has spent his career running toward problems instead of away from them.
As a Colorado Springs firefighter he showed up on your family's' worst days.
As a well known Disability Advocate, he stood up for our weaker neighbors who are consistently forgotten!
When a criminal ended the firefighting career he deeply loved Jake faced insurmountable odds.
The biggest fight other than fighting for his life and his Service K9 HALO's life, was the fight for his disability benefits. When the state pension plan denied him benefits, Jake took his fight to the State Capitol and Won! He fought for you as a fireman and will forever fight for you with that same relentless passion.
He fought.
He won.
That same determination is what Jake will bring to Colorado Springs City Council.
When City Hall stops listening, Jake will speak up.
When taxpayers aren't getting what they paid for, Jake will demand answers.
When neighborhoods are ignored, Jake will make sure they have a voice.
And when doing the right thing becomes difficult, Jake won't back down.
Meet Jake

SERVICE BEFORE POLITICS

As a Colorado Springs firefighter, Jake spent years answering calls throughout the city, helping people through fires, medical emergencies, accidents and moments of crisis.
The job taught him lessons that don't come from political campaigns.
Preparation matters
Leadership matters
Resources matter
Decisions have consequences
When someone's family, home or safety is on the line, excuses don't matter.
Those lessons continue to shape Jake's approach to public service today.

Serving as a firefighter gave Jake a firsthand view of into how Colorado Springs government should and shouldn't operate.
He saw dedicated city employees accomplish extraordinary things.
He also saw the consequences when staffing, equipment, planning or management failed to keep pace with the needs of a growing city.
Jake knows that the people who work on the front lines understand and endure problems long before those problems show up in a report at City Hall.
As a councilmember, he will listen to them.
Just as he did as a fireman, he will listen to the residents who depend on city government.
Jake knows that good government starts by asking the people closest to a problem what is actually happening.

SMALL BUSINESS. REAL-WORLD EXPERIENCE.

Jake is also a small business owner.
That means he understands what local businesses experience when utility rates increase, regulations become more complicated and government decisions drive up the cost of doing business.
Local businesses create jobs, sponsor youth teams, support nonprofits and give Colorado Springs much of its character.
Jake believes City Council should treat them as partners in the community, not simply another source of revenue.
